Hey guys, I found info on error coins and decided to relook through rhe goins to spot any missing FG. The info I found stated there is a 1973 d error coin with a missing F. I am not sure if the info I found is accurate or not, but this coin certainly seems like its missing the F. Can anyone verify this?

Your coin was the result of a grease-filled die. It's fairly common and not worth a premium. The 72 & 82 "No FG" are the only ones of interest. These were the result of an over-polished die.

Looks to be a grease filled in die, you can see a faint F. I think there is a different year missing the intials entirely. I would wait for others though :)

Yeah, I agree. When I was younger I found almost every date with missing initials, it seems grease naturally got stuck in that area.

The Kennedy 1966 SMS no FG is also collectable...actually it is worth quite a lot.

Thanks, Larry! I had my blinders on and was thinking only in terms of the CuNi halves.

Of the two, the 72-D is the rarest. Primarily because the overall condition of the die made the coin look worn as it came of the press. As such, MS examples are extremely scarce.

When 1982 rolled along, folks stuck rolls of the No FG coins away making MS66 a relatively common grade.

PCGS has graded 235 across all grades of the 82-P. 44 of those were MS66 and a solitary MS67.

Contrast that with only 24 1972-D being graded across all grads of which only 3 are MS63 with a solitary MS64.
