1973 D LMC Off Center Obverse, Reverse Normal

    I thought I would post this to share with everyone.
    And give an opportunity for the experts in the Lincoln series
    to give a explanation as to how this happened and
    the numismatic terms for this error.
    (I do not know the exact terminology for this one)
    I have seen quite a few of these being posted around lately
    and this might give some a reference point for this type of find.

    Stewart-

    That's called a mis-aligned die. If it were struck off center, it would be off center on both sides. Mis-aligned dies are common, but yours is a stronger example than most. They can start to command a small premium if the mis-alignment is so strong that it begins to cut into the devices.
