I second that. It would be nice to find other coins that were struck before and after this coin (and I am sure there were not many that came after this one).
Awesome find!!! That is the whole reason we search rolls. I agree that it would be great to find one before and after especially if that die let go and split. Sent from my PD_Novel using Tapatalk
oh how i love searching nickels. always find at least one pre 1942 in each roll ( no silver in rolls ever tho /: )
I found a simaler coin my crack is only one third of the way across starting on the right side both sides of coin The crack is in the same spot and appears to be early stage of your crack
Really nice find. Another error that seems to be seriously under-appreciated from a market standpoint. Frequently they are confused with split caps. I think I have a brother to this one, but I may be wrong. I'll look. I know I have a 1980, but it doesn't show the shifting we see here.
It's also straddled by a retained interior die break, or at least an area that sank in and is almost completely surrounded by a bi-level die crack.
I have found dark bronze colored Jefferson Nickel 1973 d. I believe it is definitely a error in two ways. The coloration and the u in the word PLURIBUS. It been circulated because of a few nicks and thin scratches which is a golden color. Please help is this rare or just a nickel. Sincerely JC please any respond would be greatly appreciated. jinskimfob@gmail.com
JJC, here's a response, you really need to start your own thread instead of tacking it onto a totally unrelated thread that is over a year old.
