Yes...... I am still searching for my first DDO/DDR.:rollling: I found this and it looks like it could be a DDO but my eye isn't trained yet. Please help with your comments. Thank You! EDIT: I think the "1" in the date has doubling. Also, the "N" in IN GOD WE TRUST. And last being the "RUS" in TRUST
There is a DDO listed in the CPG, FS-101, but your photos aren't clear enough when enlarged for me to tell. Chris
would it help if I tried to blow them up and re-post them? EDIT: These probably won't help but i tried.
Not really. You need to take clearer photos then crop & enlarge. They were blurry when I enlarged them. Chris
The mintmark looks to be in a slightly different position on FS-101 than on your coin. Overall, and even with the blurry photos, I do not believe it to be the aforementioned variety. That said, it looks as if there may be minor notching on the W (2nd photo), but this is not clear on the others. Better photos are a must.
I'm no expert ... but, if you look at the bottom-left photo in the first post, the R has a rounded appearance sitting upon a shelf-like secondary artifact ... wouldn't this be evidence of machine doubling?
Your half dollar is not the 73D DDO-001 (FS-50-1973D-101)...see attached photo. I don’t think it matches anything in the CONECA Listing. The 73D DDO-002, 003, 004, and 005 all have some notching on the top right of the U in TRUST...I see none on yours. I haven’t seen the DDO-006, but I don’t think yours matches that description. I think yours is MDD...look at the N in IN, the E of WE, and the end of the S of TRUST, all MDD. Larry Nienaber
It wouldn't be the first time that a doubled die and machine doubling were on the same coin, but I don't think that is the case here. Chris
