Any ideas as to where I can find E.D.S, M.D.S. and L.D.S markers for the business strike 1972 s ddo Lincoln Cent? I have looked just about everywhere (Coppercoins,Coneca,LincolnCentResource.etc.)and am having NO luck! Also any other variety pertaining to the 1972 s Cent. Any and all info would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thanks

Jon26, perhaps you are talking about the master die doubling which use to be called "die 5" doubling but was removed as such later when it wa shown to be in a "master die hubbing". They occurred in large numbers and in all mints according to references and is the only type of doubling in 1972s Business strikes that I can find. There is a 1972-S proof DDO ( FS-1-033.7). If you have Daughtrey's book "Looking through Lincoln Cents" , the master die doubling is shown on page 276. If it was a single die rather than a master die, it would have a premium, but since there were so many, little or no premium should be there, although they are often sold on ebay as such.

Thank you for your reply, Jim. I found this particular variety listed in the "strike it rich with pocket change" book by Brian Allen & Ken Potter. It's listed as Potter:vcr#1/ddo#1...Wexler:wddo-006.There is,however, no mention of an fs#.nor is there any reference to Coneca.Either book is outdated or those two guys made it up :smile

    Hi Guys,

I have the discovery piece. It is one of two known, at this point. Billy Crawford took the pictures of my coin for Ken Potters book. You may see my name under the picture in the book although the editors spelled it incorrectly:)

Links to my email address and websites are in my profile under contact information. Email me privately and I'll be able to help you with this.

This is not master die doubling:)
