Looks like it may have been cleaned or wiped. On the reverse under the left wing (right side of coin) it looks like scratches/hairline which go up onto the wing which means they are not die polish lines...so cleaned MS details...but what do I know?

The D mint 1972 dollars all have type 1 earth. So technically the OP is correct!

It was your grear grandfather's coin so the grade doesn't really matter. Enjoy the history and the thought that he held that coin. I never knew my great grandfather. I do have a watch that he gave to my grandfather though and although it is not in great shape I think about the family connection when I hold that piece of history.

I asked my grandma if she had any old coins.she gave ten coins and tokens .one of the tokens was for a free drink at a hotel here in my hometown.that token was from 1890s.one of 95 .it would have to be from my great great grandfather.

This token was ordered by a fellow in Ottawa in late 1890s.he ordered 95 of them.maple creek was still in northwest territories at that time J.H.F. john henry flemming purchased the hotel on christmas eve 1896.saskatchewan became a province in 1905.
