While CRHing this morning, I came across this 1972 LMC with what looks like a collapsed
bubble under Lincoln's chin an a strange marking on the left side of the Memorial. Any ideas? I know it is a PMD, but obverse is strange looking.

Looks like someone was trying to drill a hole in it. Probably tried a drill, then a hole cutter. Maybe an cheap inadequate AAA battery powered hand drill thing.

Or even used a hole punch and regular punch, and tried hammering it in. If you look at the obverse it looks more plausible.

But difficult to know without asking the person that did the damage.

When I was a child in the 50's we had dime banks that we saved a lot of merc dimes and some FDR dimes, When it was full there was a screw on the top, you had to screw the screw down and all the dimes would pop out the bottom. It left one dime damaged.

btw, I forgot to mention this. But if I see correctly,
the obverse circular damage is not at the same location as the reverse circular damage. So both side damage probably occurred at different times, thus my guess on a manual aspect to the damage.

Pmd possibly from a drill bit or soldering iron.
