So this curious little fella just came my way as part of a bull lot. It is noticeably thinner than the typical clad quarter and is way shy of the proper 5.6 gram typical weight. Any ideas how this might have happened and what the potential value might be.
    Thanks!

Interesting! Is it full diameter? Does it have any reeding on the edge?

It is full diameter. I think it is struck on thin Dime stock. I did some research and apparently there was a run of these I. 1970 (about 100k). Pretty cool!

Yes I did have a 1970 quarter that was light. Funny thing is. You can tell by holding it

Let me explain the issue. Because some will think it was struck on a Dime sized planchet and will say it does not look like it is. The planchet was punched out of a clad sheet intended for dimes and not quarters. So that is why it is thinner. Same Diameter as a quarter but thinner and lighter.
