Hi folks New to the forum. Have a question in regards to a 1972 penny. Was going thru a large amount of coins that i have accumalated over the years and came across a 1972 d penny. Looking under a magnifying glass to check the dates the 9 looks like a seven has no loop on it. Was curious if anyone has come across something like this. There is no damage or anything that looks like it was tampereed with. Would post pics but only have access to a scanner and am unsure if it would show up clear enough. Any info would be appreciated
Here is a scan of the penny, not sure how well it will show up .After scanning it the nine looks more like a nine instead of a seven. Does have the loop of the nine but seems to be pushed together so disregard.
+1 That is indeed what it is. Nice find, but not really worth much. You might get a buck or two for it as there are those out there who collect these.
Thanks rascal for your profound info. By the way if you re read my post you will see where i said disregard as it was an error on my part. FYI read a post, comprehend the post, and then reply
Hey I just said you need some bifocals . you need to take my good advice and then you won't need those magnifying glasses to tell the difference between a 9 and a seven. being able to see will open up a whole new world to you.
OK Chief, Even with bifocals and a magnifying glass still looks like a seven But what can i say. I will save you the come back, i know have my eyes re examined. Seems strange that you are only attacking post about error coins. Sounds as if you had a bad dealing with same. Oh well forgive and forget and move on. Peace
