Can anyone tell me if this qualifies for doubling? http://www.flickr.com/photos/mitchelliii/4768742232/sizes/l/ (doubled pic) NOT doubled pic for comparison... http://www.flickr.com/photos/mitchelliii/4768742830/sizes/l/ If it is, what are these worth? Cheers, -Scott
Looks to be md. If you compare to an actual doubled die, you will see that the "second" device will be similar to the primary device. Whereas, in md the secondary is very flat (shelf-like). That's what I can see from the angle you photographed the coin you have. Try shooting it straight on. It may actually be another variety of the 1972 ddo.
MD, flattened shelf like effect. The first 8 dies of the 1972 P are type I DD, so the doubling shows up most prominent towards the edge. Dies 9-10 only show a small effect on the "2" or the "L" of liberty. The 1972-D Also has a Die #1 DDO that would probably be well known and well appreciated, except for the 1972-P Die 1. The price for same grade is about 2-5% of the Big Baby. Jim
Still practicing photo attachment in this version: Here is a nice 1972 DDO #1. Bought from Bowers and Merena in the '80s.
