I was going through my collection of gold and silver dollars I've had for almost 22 years now and stumbled across a neat gash on the obverse edge of my 1972 type 1 eisenhower. It runs all the way around to the rim and back over to the reverse side. Is it a error? If so is it worth anything more than a type 1?
It is not an error but appears like someone tried to cut it with shears of some type. Personally, I would not consider it "neat" as much as "oh crap, another ruined coin that might have had some value but some bonehead went and ruined it." Here's my 1972 Type 2 Error: This falls into the "neat" category. Don't cha think?
That is a beauty type 2 is on my list of wants and such a nice error. And what a shame, it must have been nipped purposely here's the edging. reckon I'll put it back in the safe for a a couple of decades. Thanks for quick response and def for sharing.
Correcto Mundo. But, they have it covered since the word "Genuine" covers just about all the possibilities.
Im not sure if I can get it much sharper than this I'm using a iPhone 4s, so I took a few in different lighting. It may be a little clearer not much tho.
