Today I decided to get a couple rolls of pennies and wouldn't you know the first roll I break into has a 1972 double die. The liberty is doubled, the date semi doubled and the whole in god we trust is. I believe that it would be considered red brown to brown. Does anyone have any idea of a value?

    Should be $300+ if uncirculated.

    Hello rdacer2009,

    Welcome to the CoinTalk forum.
    :welcome:
I look forward to seeing photos of your coins.

Here is a good link which describes several of the doubled die cents from 1972.

Please compare your cent (carefully) to the images of these 1972 examples. It will be nice to hear if your coin is one of the known doubled die coins.

With no other info than it possibly being a DDO, how can you even estimate a value? As an example, would a basic unc DDO #3 have a value of $300+? Not in my world, so with knowing next to nothing about the coin in question, there is no reason to set the OP up for a potential/possible letdown.

    OP,

As others have said, post clear and detailed images. This is about the only way anyone could give an estimation of value and/or tell if the coin even is a doubled die. Good luck.
