Another thread mentioned the 72DD cent.

Back then I found a DD in change, so it would be high grade circulated (maybe tarnished AU). But as I recall, there were two or three varieties.

I don’t have any resources at the moment here in Germany, but does anyone know off hand what the price range is for the various types. I always wondered if it was worth slabbing or otherwise displaying in something more elaborate than a cardboard 2x2.

There are many varieties of the 1972 and the reason I got my certified is that I wanted to make sure I had the "good" one. With that said, there will be clear doubling in the date, LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRUST. Here's a pic I found...why they didn't label the doubling for IN GOD WE TRUST is beyond me, so use this as a guide.

Values for this coin are increasing as an estimated 75,000 made their way from the mint. Who knows how many survived, were lost, or are sitting in someones change jar. Coin Values has a 1972 DDO in AU50 listed at $400...and they only go up from there.

Thanks for the pic. Mine has no where near that much doubling. It is mainly in the motto, if I recall correctly.
