Hi, guys have a question. Going through some penny's tonite and I have two 1972D Lincoln cents. The problem is one weighs 3.1 and the second one weighs 3.4. The one that weighs 3.4 is the same size as the other coin. The same thickness and same diameter. Is this normal to weigh that much over? Thanks in advance. Robert

Yes.. It's normal. Just slightly overweight. But within tolerance.

    The tolerance is +/- .13 grams. 2.98 3.11 3.24.
So while technically it is a tad heavy and out of spec, it is on a slightly thicker planchet and to have value it needs to be a little more drastic.
I would keep it in a 2x2 and label the weight (to hundredths of a gram on a good scale) but there's really no premium for this.
If your scale only goes to tenths, it may not be accurate enough, or calibrated correctly, and it could weigh a little less. (3.35 etc.).
