Another very bold penny, hower in liberty the L and I are smaller than the rest the bold rim too not sure if it normal probably is though. One more thing on the " reverse " side the stairs I don't see thinking they had to much grease, is that considered an error.
It's not unusual. You will probably come to this realization once you have examined a few billion coins. Chris
The "L" came out a somewhat cockeyed because that area that close to the collar isn't perfectly flat but sunken, somewhat. Thus those "Ls" come out every which way when they're that close to the collar. Your "I" is normal. Your stairs just aren't struck-up that well. Grease, BTW, is an error, as it fills in die, but who cares, really, unless the result is dramatic? That's how that goes...
Grease is an error, I thought it was but wasn't sure now I gotta look for a penny I had missing the L in liberty I have it somewhere lol thanks for the info
Yes! As @eddiespin stated, grease-filled dies are considered an error but not worth much because they are so common. Gator, I'd be willing to bet that if you keep looking for grease-filled dies, you just might be able to find specimens for every missing letter or number on the coins. Chris
