I found this coin in some IKE dollars i was sorting through.
It has this funny texture to it that another ike dollar does not have.
    It's not wax. It's like a Glaze.
I don't think you be able to see much from a photo, so I'll wait to post one. Have you guys heard of anything like this?
    Thanks,
    SM

It could be almost anything - oil, dip residue, lacquer, mercury - or any of countless other substances. But whatever it is - it did not come from the mint that way.

I agree with GDJ. It sounds like it was dipped in something. There has been a rash of people trying to make error coins by dipping them in different things and then selling them at online auctions for hefty prices. A friend of mine was recently scammed by a missing plating penny that was actually dipped in mercury. ANd I have found several jefferson nickels that people are trying to electroplate with copper.

Thanks for your replys! So, what kind of error would a scammer call it?

Example? It came from the mint this way. I think it fell into another pot of metal or oil, etc?
Is this what they might say?
I would thinbk if they said this, that people would have hard time trusting them?

It is kinda cool, though. It feels alot different than a regular ike.

One more question: Is there a way to test what is on it?

    Thanks again,
    SM

In my expierence, they say it is an "UNKNOWN CLADDING ERROR", "VERY RARE" so on and so fourth. Because of the great values that are now being put on missing clad error coins. However, there is one thing I have learned, scammers are very, very creative, and unless you are on your toes, they will get you.
From what I have seen during the mint tour I took, there is nothing there that could have caused that. But that would not stop a scammer from saying that by any means.
Without up close examination I can't say for sure on any of this mind you, and it could have been an innocent mistake by somebody dropping it in something.

Is it too late of me to get in on these scams?

I could use some fast money.

Seems lile PT Barnum's observation never goes out of style.
