I'm going to assume this is the S you are talking about. It's not a mint mark,
or the remnants of a removed mint mark.

 

I see no S

 

This looks like a legitimate DDO to me,sweet find man...the W is unmistakable. I also see minor clash Marks below the memorial (lincolns head) and to the left of Lincoln on the front(memorial columns) also the tip of his chin shows signs of a column as well. The S you think you see is more than likely due to the clash imo
