I have post this coin and most of answers is die chip. Today I found the pic from VV. 1929 S RPM 1929-S RPM-001 very similar and it make me wonder. Any Idea Master?
You can easily see the that the 1929-S RPM has the outline of an "S". The mark on your coin is irregular. If you think about how a punch contacts a die, it is unlikely that it would leave an irregular shaped mark. You have a coin with a die chip above the MM
I've confused the two coins, sorry. CopperCoins has a 011 on the '71 S but it is a complete curve above the mint mark. I don't know if this is it with damage?
Looking at the positions of the MM's one is much lower than the other. Compare the height of the MM against the low point of the 9
tommyc03, thanks for including me in these discussions, I have about 200 rpms and claim no expertise; I knew when I tried to clear up my confusion, I was probably stepping in it and it appears so. But you know what? I really like your dog.
