    Good afternoon all

i have a couple of questions regarding some coins I forgot I had laying around in the house and hoping someone can help? i purchased a roll of Eisenhower dollar coins sometime ago and have only just noticed that the edges look slightly different although they are all the same year and S mint mark, I think I collected these because I thought they were the pegleg R variety although I’m now unsure because I’ve also noticed the R’s are missing the serifs but some of the E’s aren’t missing the lower serif. Any help would be much appreciated regarding the color difference and also the pegleg variety.

All '71-S Ike's are 40% silver. Being that there is copper in the coins, it's possible to have a slight "coppery" tinge to the edge. Otherwise it will look silver. The coins you've pictured all look like 40% silver (even the ones that have some copper showing).

That's my story and I am sticking to it until proven otherwise.

No opinion on the peg leg questions.

Thank you for the reply, yes they are 40%ers I just never realized they could have different edge colors as they have been stored the same way since I’ve had them but I can’t remember if they were purchased as a roll or wether I got them individually to be honest so I suppose if they were all stored differently prior to my ownership that could contribute to the color difference? Hopefully someone else will have the answer for the pegleg question at some point but for now thanks again for the input it’s much appreciated

Storage would only have an effect on toning most likely. I suppose toning could highlight or hide any original copper that was showing. But I think that's a bit of a stretch.
