the D is smaller than my other coins from the early 70s, and it is farther to the left right. its tucked away in the bottom right corner, and its tiny. anyone know what this is?

i dont have another 1971 D to compare it to. it is probably common, but id like to know :)

Back then the mintmarks were punched into each die by hand so they tend to "wander" from one die to the next. The size of the mintmark can vary depending on how hard they were punched into the die or by whether or not the die has been polished. A lightly punched die or over polished die will have a smaller mintmark.
