I have a 1972 Lincoln with the reverse side at the E before Pluribus looks like it's smushed.....the F in FG runs into the G....also on the obverse I "think" I are the bottom of N in the word IN slightly larger than normal, the same for the W in WE, and the bottom of the S in TRUST is also slightly larger....any thoughts? Ty in advance....

I think that you are moving in the right direction by "closely" examining your coins.

Now, it is time for you to study the die making and coin making processes so that you can determine for yourself what it is you are seeing and then try to connect that with what could have happened during the two afore mentioned processes that would make the coin look like it does.

It is not an easy lesson but it can be done as it is quite simple in its concept.

"Smushed" E's, and letters which bleed into other letters is caused from worn out dies and its the normal course of events for dies that produced hundreds of thousands if not millions of coins during their lifespans.

Someday, that brand spanking new Corvette will be a worn out piece of junk as things just wear out over time and use.
