Just found this today and was wondering if anyone know what grade is this coin?. I read that there's no nickel of this year graded higher than ms 67. I know this is no where near that but i just want to get an idea on the grading scale.
It's either FS or it's not. Almost means it's not. I actually see circulation marks on the steps breaking it up on many areas.
Ok i see what you're talking about paddy. maybe this is a dumb question, so for any of the nickels or just coins in general that can be valuables or worth collecting it has to be uncirculated?
No. But the better condition is always a plus. There are rare coins that still have value when circulated.
Only regular strike coins graded MS60 or higher may receive the designation. PCGS has always awarded “FS” for coins displaying either 5 or 6 steps. Proofs don't get this designation.
Anything is worth collecting if you enjoy it, so please don't focus on value alone. Doing so will only help to cheapen the experience. As for circulated vs. uncirculated, it really depends on the coin and/or type in question. With "moderns" and those that can still be found in circulation, high MS is generally the way to go, but the same can be said of many older coins/types as well. However, there are circulated coins that can be of a higher quality than one that technically fits into the MS or uncirculated category. Unfortunately, a higher number doesn't always equate to a higher quality or eye-appealing coin.
