Ok folks, I've put alot of time in taking pics of these 9 -1970S cents and doing a good bit of searching thru the site for MM issues. I got to looking closely at these 70Ss and they are supposed to have the tallS series of mint mark, but as you'll see only 1 or 2 of them resemble each other. I realize that they are 50 years old, and some have been knocked around a bit, but some dont look anything like the others. Style 006 Ball Serif 1944- 46 Style 007 Sans Serif. 1946-47 Style 008 tall S 52- 74 Style 009 Blob S 74- 79. The years that use more than 1 style are 28, 41, 44, 45, 46, 47, 52 ,74, 79 and 81 I also tried to just zero in on the MMs so they would be closer together, making it easier to compare. But I'm not that good at chopping up pics like that yet. Maybe next time. I also wanted to make sure these are all small dates as well. The top of the 7 is below the top of the 1,9 AND the zero, right? COOL. Please let me know if this is normal , about the Mint Mark's, if I'm making too big of a deal out of it. Ok here we go I numbered them when I saved them 1-9 and i will also put a simple number right by each pic, to make it easier telling them apart. Thanks, Foo 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
well, IMO, all the mm's in your pics look the same to me except with different damage and stages of wear, and all large date...
I commend you for your patience in doing the research. Sorry, but as stated by @ken454, all you cents are the Large date variety. http://lincolncentsonline.com/largeandsmalldates.html
Lol thanks ken and thomas. I appreciate you acknowledging that. Funny thing is,,,, the large date portion is the ONE thing I didn't research!! Ha I'm sure if I had looked it up, I would have seen that. I just assumed I had the 7 all figured out. Putting that in the bank now. I guess the Ss just looked like the shape of many of them weren't correct
