Thanks DJ for yhe info, hre's what I came up with. Any info from anyone please. Am I seeing it correctly?
Fish: What you have is called mechanical doubling or strike doubling. It is caused by the die slipping as the coin is struck, ejected from the die. There is no added value to the coin. But, keep looking.
Hi All, The correct term although mechanical doubling has been used for years is "machine doubling damage". The idea is the same as it is not caused by a doubled die but the terminology (even though you will find many references to mechanical doubling as the wrong name has proliferated) is machine doubling. Thanks, Bill
I hope this will be some help to you.http://www.lincolncentresource.com/doubledies/1970Sddo1.html Bruce.
Thanks Bruce. Glad I didn't have that link yesterday. I got rid of 10,000 cents yesterday morning. Couldn't handle looking at them anymore. Very ni ce link though, I'll use it on the other 20,000 waiting around the house.
