So, I'm trying to get better about determining which RDV different quarters have. I have a pair of 1970 Washington Quarters...one P and one D and I am unsure if I am attributing them correctly.

    Help would be appreciated.

I have photographed both coins in question, top coin is a 1970. Based on my research, they are only known to have RDV-006 and RDV-007, 007 being far rarer. One key marker appears to be the size of the feather on the back of the Eagle's head. 006 has a very minimal feather while 007 is larger. I believe this is a RDV-007 based on the larger feather. I also believe all 3 leaves are touching the tail feathers which is another marker for the 007.

The second image is a 1970-D which can exist as RDV-006, 007, or 008. In this case, the feather on the back of the head is far smaller which is found on the 006, not the 007 or 008. So, I believe the 1970-D to be a RDV-006.

Can someone who knows these better look them over and let me know what they think?

    Thanks.

Easy way to tell is the " N " in UNUM .
    RDV-006 has a straight N .
    RDV-007 has a hooked N ..

To me. Both look straight. Would that mean both are 006?

Can you recommend a good reference for these varieties? I have been using two but I think some have their facts backwards. Variety Vista is one and the other is a PDF from the Heartland Coin Club...but the latter said the 006 had a serif on the N and the 007 does not. That is clearly backwards.

Here is the pdf I am refering to: http://heartlandcoinclub.com/Docume...(RDV) From A to H, and Beyond Rev. 3-2019.pdf
