I did! This coin is almost 50 years old, and just about anything during its circulation could have caused those tiny marks. I agree with @paddyman98 ! Chris
You guys are probably right, and I know it's not the best picture but under magnifying you can see more clear.... unfortunately you can only see like the ends of lettering not the whole letters. But thanks for the input.
It's circulation damage,and the damage has caused you to see something that isn't there, not to worry it happens.
I see what you're talking about on the rim above the word STATES, I also see damage 180° across the coin at QUA. I believe this to be the result of a vice job, the rim of another coin has pressed in and damaged the QUA and lettering from the other coin has been impressed lightly into the rim above STATES. So you have a vice job and heavy wear. Final opinion Post Strike Damage PSD.
