Both are large dates to me.I always use the 0 as a comparison. If the 7 goes below the 0 its a large.Small date and the 7/0 are exactly the same size. But things like these sure can trick the eyes sometimes.
I can’t tell from the angle of the photo. Can you get a photo of each coin from directly above and not on any angles.
Thank you for the overhead photos. The coin on the left is a large date. It’s common. Notice the position of the 7 when compared to the 0. Notice the position of the 7 and compare that to the 0 onnn B the coin on the right. See the difference? The right hand coin is the small date and that is the one that’s worth the extra money. You won’t retire but it’s the one you want. Even better if you got it at face value. Congratulations Tracey! Your searching paid off.
Cool yes ive been collecting coins and i have a bunch that ive been going through being that im in quarentine for having covid well cool finally found something THANKS!!!
Yes, good find…basically the end of the loop of the 9 points to the middle of the 7 and the 7 is high and even with the top of the 0. The 9 itself appears to be a little squashed in shape for the small date. Conversely, the Large date 9 looks perfectly normal but the end of the loop points to the bottom of the 7, and the top of the 7 is below the top of the 0. There are tons of posts out there in Coin Talk that have comparison pics of the differences between the two types…this is how I learned to tell the difference myself. Ya done good, Tracy…Spark
