I'm picking out copper pennies from rolls right now and I came across a 1970 S and I always like to save S mint marked coins just for the heck of it. I decided to look this one up online to see if its worth anything more than melt and I found out that there was a large and small date for the 1970 S lincoln cent and the small date is worth significantly more. I read the way to tell is that the top of the 7 in the small date is more level with the tops of the 9 and 0. The problem is I have no other 1970 S to compare it to and to me it looks like the 7 may be pretty level with the 9 and 0, but with nothing to compare it to how am I supposed to know? I'd like to post a picture of it on here so you all can take a look at it. Problem there is I've tried posting pictures before and it hasn't worked. I'm probably doing it wrong, the way I've tried is just pasting the picture into here. What is the correct way to post pictures?
This source and photos should help until a photo comes along. http://www.lincolncentresource.com/smalldates/1970Ssmalldate.html Jim
