1970-S nickels?

I've lived all my life on the East Coast. When I was a kid searching penny rolls, I almost never found S-mint cents -- I might have found two or three over the course of several years. Nickels were a little more common, but still far less than one in a thousand, I'd say. When I did find them, they were all 1969-S, maybe one or two 1968-S; hardly any of the older issues.

Since earlier this year I've come across three 1970-S nickels in my change -- two in the space of the last week or so, out of maybe a couple hundred I've gotten in change. I guess it's just that "lucky streaks" always happen if you wait long enough, but it still seems strange.

Is anybody else seeing a sudden rise in a particular issue that used to be hard to find?

I always find lots of them in CRH and just release them back into the wild since it is not yet their time to retire to the old nickel retirement home.
