Im trying to learn the difference between a 1970 S small date and large date. I’ve been On Lincoln cent resource and from what I have read there and can tell from this coin, I have a large date. Looking for verification. I know the small date is the sought after but I figured this is what I have so let’s learn from this one. Loop in the 9 looks like it’s curving down towards Mint mark and and the 7 sets below the date line of the 1-9-0. If you have any other distinguishing tricks I would love to hear them! Thanks! Chewmassa Now where could my pipe be?

Seems like you have it down. Also the inside end of the 9 is blunt on this one, where as on a small date it would be "sharper" and LIBERTY would be "mushy"

The key for the Small vs Large S is the tapper of the first Nine's tail. A mushy Liberty can be deceiving. But the pointed end of that 9 vs the blunt end is the easiest for me to see.
