I came across an unusual Kennedy half dollar a few months ago. It is a 1970-s proof kennedy half with a piece of the back of the head missing. There is a small indentation, (looks like a hole), on the side of the head too. Everyone was saying it was fake so I went to ICG and had it graded. It came back as a pr-64 mint error obverse struck through debris. What is erie about the coin is that when Kennedy was assasinated, the back of his head was damaged plus theres a small hole on the side that could be construed as a bullet hole. I'm just going by what I see and what others have told me but I cannot find any info on this coin. As far as I know, this is the only one in existence but I had high hopes that a member here could help me out with finding out more about it. I sent it in to Coinworld, and they took pictures and a guy named Eric said he would run the picture in an upcoming issue. Can anyone help me? Thank you, Tom My avatar is a picture of the coin before I had it graded.
Wow, that is eerie. Even though it is in your avatar, can you still post a pic of it? The pic in your avatar is to small for me to see. Phoenix
kennedy picture Hi, If Coinworld doesn't come out this week with the article with the pictures they took of my coin, I will post one of my own. I take terrible pictures and I would rather have you see a professional picture that is up close and detailed. I haven't taken any pictures of my own yet, but I wil try if the article doesn't appear this week. I have a hard time taking up close pictures without being blurred but I will try and I will post it later in the week. Thanks for your interest. Has anyone ever heard of this type of coin error on this particular coin? Thanks, again.
Okay, cool. I have heard of stike throughs, but not like that. Sounds interesting. A tip for getting pics without getting to many blurry ones, there should be a flower icon or button on your camera. Press it, you should be able to get decent pics. Good luck. :thumb: Phoenix
