Hi guys, any help would be much appreciated in identifying which DDO this guy is. It is a proof. I never have much luck with Lincoln's..guess because of the size mixed with my patience for trying to identify Proof Varieties/Errors. I have tried to get the best Photos possible and can try again if anybody can suggest a better lighting technique to help out. The bottom of the 9 is split, the top right of the 7 is split, the top right of the T is split in LIBERTY, the top right of the Y, and it looks like there is doubling to the left of the B & E also. I'm pretty much cancelling out the LD/SD only because of the filled Mintmark but I'm not sure. Thanks in advance for any help!
Can we see the *entire* coin in one picture. Like, the entire circular thing ? for instance the FS-101 DDO is very noticeable throughout but you are showing everything *except* what is obvious 1970 S DDO examples. Unless you have a specific DDO, in which case it would be helpful if you identify it specifically.
Sorry about that I was just first attempting to show the doubling that I noticed. Here are pictures of the coin...the entire circular thing...
well the wexler 001/FS-101 has clear doubling in "IN GOD WE TRUST" liberty and the date. I don't see it in yours as clearly. 002 shows spread in IGWT, and a die crack in the L - neither present in yours. 003 is primarily a hubbing issue seen in the 9 and 0. I don't see it in the 9 at all. but I see the extra thickness in the IBERTY 004 - doubling in the L .. I see a fatter L but no split doubling. 005 - pics are not clear enough (lighting issue). maybe some class II spreading on the IBE but not the die break between the date/mm man .. I just looked up all the minor DDO for this and there a billion of 'em. I think it is DDO but I'm not sure which one of the minor ones. Certainly not FS-101 which is the important one. FYI, you need to soften your lighting as it has too many bright spots on the coin taking away the needed details. maybe @Rick Stachowski can identify it, or think I'm seeing things.
Since it appears the mintmark "S" also has similar effects on it , the odds are very much against a DDO ,and more for mechanical doubling effect ( no value ) that was common in that era in SF. Jim
Thanks for taking a minute to look I appreciate it. I saw the same thing with the minors and figured either someone would be into Lincoln's enough to know off hand or it's just another one for the collection.
The S mm to me looks filled, not doubled at all but I see your point. May have been the reflection in the photo. Thanks for the input if it's not a major one I'm not even gonna worry about it anymore
