Hi everyone, So I picked up two boxes on cents (I now know not to dare call them pennies, LoL) and have started going through them today I came across this 1970 S cent, and while I understand there's nothing special about the date (I think), after looking at other pictures online, the S looks different to the others I've seen. It looks thinner with no 'blob' on the bottom end. Does anyone have an explanation? P.S, sorry about the pic, but trying to improve on the scans I've put on here in the past, although I don't have steady hands, LoL. I'll be trying in the mean time.
Its a micro s in the 1970-1979 cent series. The cent is worth 15 to 20 dollars more depending on the condition. In this case its worth about 16$.
I have never heard of a micro S. do people actually buy them? I am guessing they are as frequent as the small date 1970 S. which are quite rare.
There was only one style of 'S' used for this year (a tall S). It looks different probably from over polished dies or a weak strike.
There were 2 types mint mark punches used S nickel 68-70 mint stage and s for the cent.so sometimes you can find a S lg cent & small s.there are few lg S 1c
Sorry, I guess I didn't make my self clear in that last question. There is only one style of 'S' used in the year 1970 for the Lincoln Cent, are you saying there is another style 'S' used in 1970 for the Lincoln Cent?
I'm not saying you're wrong, but no one else, including Coneca and Lincoln Cent Resource Center seems to know about it. Do you have a link to information on it?

I still don't see any mention of a micro-s in any of these. There was a small/large date in the 1970-S, but the mm was the same for both.
