1970 s cent

    I was looking through a roll and found a 1970 s cent. I have neever seen one and was just wondering about it. Trying to take a pic. But my hands aren’t steady lol

    1956-1967 there were no S's on cents. It was returned in 1968, and the regular cents had them from 1968-1974. After that only proof cents have the S.
    Now, there is a variety on the 1970-S, the small date. Characterized by a weakly struck LIBERTY, a 9 that curls all the way around, and the point of the 9 is sharp.
    While the large date, not valuable has a well struck LIBERTY the curl of the 9 points down to the bottom of the 7, and the point of the 9 is blunt.

    I didn't know Ed Wood accepted pupils! Do the classes take place at his new facility? I missed the registration date... Aw.

    Seems to be a large date then. Awe well.

    Most of them are. That's why the small date is valuable.

    If it's not a small date, which it probably isn't, it's not worth anything unless it's mint state like this one:

    This is what the small date looks like, it's a subtle difference that's easiest to see by the 9 and the 0.
