kinda looks incused - meaning it is stamped onto the rim and goes down. is that correct ?? or is it raised above the rim.
put the magnifier away, why don't you move your fingernail over the area ? or a toothpick (you would be able to poke the toothpick inside of it, or it would stop against it). should be easy to determine rather than pics which need to be from the side to show if it's raised. Looks like a backwards L to me .. pressed on to it.
well it isn't that easy to determine. its too small for a toothpick. using my fingernail it does stop against it, but it can still be the area around the incused mark, if that makes sense ( the way i describe it)
Let me put it this way because I getting anxious to see what's happening. In other words, What would make it A MINT ERROR? raised or incused? I have a lot to learn!!
If it is raised above the edge it could be a cud-like mint error. If it is incused it looks like it may have been pressed in from a hit with another coin possibly.
From all your pics it looks pressed in. Also, if you look at the reverse, there is rim damage in the same general area. It's just PMD and not a mint error. Sometimes pictures can give the illusion that something is raised when it is pressed in. That's why people were asking for confirmation.
@Oldhoopster I see what you're saying. That's way I always upload pics of both sides of the coin and not only the "error" ( or most often "damage" ) area. Thank you for your time!
