So I bid on this quarter on EBay...... because it was pretty! Lol! Anyways- was it the best $1.70 I’ve ever spent? Looks like the reverse is doubled to me, but then again- so does everything else!! Thanks in advance for all your help and suggestions!!
Thank you!! If it’s not a doubled die, atleast I’ll have a pretty shiny quarter to keep in my collection!!
It was almost 2 months ago, but it was sold as a “1970 Quarter with nice toning”! Whether or not the toning was “real” or not- I didn’t care- it just grabbed my attention! And the pics were blurry so I didn’t even consider it to be an error coin! I just took it out of the package today to have my first look at it with my loupe!
Oh no!! Poor dogs!!! Hopefully they don’t have some life changing coins sitting in their bellies!! Lol!
Okay- I tried taking some better pics- still terrible, but I think a little better! Lol! Still waiting.....very impatiently!!!
Too hard to tell with your photos. Look for the die markers and use Variety vista. I think I see some extra thickness, but can't confirm. By the way that's a perty quarter.
Most types of doubling are not the valuable doubling. The toning may not be natural. If you are happy with your coin, it didn't cost too much and they mean different things to different people. The odds are, it's worth a quarter. You can check Wexler's Doubled Die/Varieties online, and see if your coin matches what they have listed. Here is the link for your coin, scroll down past the DDO to the DDR: https://www.doubleddie.com/2014637.html
I'm not seeing the doubling and I'm thinking AT but it sure is nice looking and worth what you paid. Nice find.
Thank you very much! I would honestly be surprised if the toning was real! I will check for the die markers again.
