I sent in this coin just to see what I could slip by NGC, but of course somone was doing their job because it was graded correctly. UNC-AT. BUT......... The date on the holder says 1907 D 50C. I have heard that these holders are worth a little premium. Can someone tell me how mch they think this is worth?
Cool. They make mistakes in the descriptions every once in a while. The date, denomination and the mintmark also. There are a few people that like to collect error TPG labels. But I don't think that it would be worth a whole lot of money. Here is an error coin with error label that I own. A $1.00 Dime
I was curious what the NGC Certification Verification tool on their website would say and guess what.. they made the mistake again on the coin description ..... drunk! I want to share this image from NGC -
It happens more often than you think. 7-8 years ago I sent two 1999-S Silver proof sets to NGC for grading. Each coin was separated from the Mint packaging and put into mylar flips. When I received the graded coins back from NGC, here is what I found. Virtually every quarter and half dollar is mislabeled. Both halves say Connecticut One Pennsylvania quarter is correct while the other says fifty cents Both Georgia's say New Jersey Both Connecticut's say Georgia One New Jersey's says Pennsylvania, the other says fifty cents Both Delaware's are correct. Everything else was correct. I traded one set to a member here and still have the other. I doubt I will send them in for a correction.
My local coin shop has a 1938-D Buffalo Nickel labeled as a completely different date Mercury Dime with Full Split Bands. He's asking $150.00 for it. No way would I pay that much for an error label.
