1970 D cent filled 9 +

What do we say about that raised area around the top of the 1 and 9 in addition to the filled loop? Does that flow there while the die is being pulled off or is the die face missing material there?

Oh wait, I figured it out, the memorial is die clashed across the coin, faint but the whole thing is there! Stuff under the one the 1 is the corner.

 

Die chip in the date, there also could be a clash as you say.

 

There is, but faint. Easy to see in hand, hard to image.
