this is what it think is going on the left side is doubled x3+ all 6 column's this is what i see I have more pic's I am new to this posting thing so sorry if I am making a mistake
so acid can raize the bottom of the memorial and bend the top and make the column's look double triple? and not damage the copper's color?
....it's been buffed with wire bristles. They move the metal around like that. They would not look like scratches after the first half-second the coin's surface met the Buffing machine with the wire bristles. Acid treated/wire bristles - everything you see on the coin occurred after the cent was in circulation. It did not leave the Mint like that.
That's the important thing when seeing something like this is to ask self " How could this occur in the mint process to look like this?" If you can't , the odds are that it wasn't done in the mint so it is just damage. I suspect something like a blow torch or acetylene torch myself, but it is still damage. This year cent is the same metal mix all the way through. jim
