1969D penny

    I can not make out what is under the 6 and the right corner of the building appears melted.

    The doubling around the date is Mechanical Doubling, aka Machine Doubling and Strike Doubling.

    The corner of the Lincoln Memorial looks like a die crack possibly.

    I'm guessing that the cent has been torched in this area by a welders torch and nearly melting the copper . the area on the reverse side is directly opposite the date so the one thing probably caused both sides of the coin's problem.
