Has anyone heard of this one? I did an internet search and came up empty. The duplicate and lighter mintmark is directly southwest of the actual mintmark and they are almost touching. I asked if you had heard of it, that's all. I gave an accurate description but do not have enough computer skills or a camera of my own. I have to get my daughter's help.
That's what I figure, too. But, if it's as far away as it sounds, I'd like to see it. Almost touching? Sounds interesting (well, to me anyway).
Well there are many 1969-S/S's if that's what you are asking??? There is also many more mechanical doubled coins in this date as any date there is. Look at the coin, the date and mintmark, if they are both doubled in the same direction it is probably machine/mechanical type doubling very common. If only the mint-mark is doubled it will not be very wide. The "S" will be over or on top of the primary "S" close with some frontal appearence but mostly on the ends of the serifs. If the doubling on your coin looks flat and shelvelike or scooted, pushed or pulled, (the metal looks stretched) it is a common machine doubled coin.
