I just notice sort of a bigger space between the s’ tip end and the body in comparison to the mintmark for the period. Thanks

    Still punched by hand at that time, so they can be in different locations.

    Also they can be struck at different angles, so the letter might appear distorted a little. Also other coins can rub or strike a letter and shove the copper over a little. Nickels and copper cents in the change pocket or purse can mess up the lettering and numbers as copper alloy is so soft. Jim
