It looks Like you may have a RPM, but it is not a DDO.

I have seen 3 of these in hand and can tell you without a doubt.. this is NOT one. The 1969S that your looking for can be seen here.... http://koinpro.tripod.com/ about 1/3 of the way down the page. There is no mistaken a true DDO 1969S.

HERE is another page to read on them. HERE

We say it's not a doubled die all the time because usually it's not, just like this one

No, it isn't a DDO, just MD. Look at the cent photos on this page and notice the small indentation at the end of the loops of the date. This is called split serifs and it also occurs on the letters. I have always wondered why some of the varieties photos are in the red book as they are too small to help.

I also do not think it is a RPM, just the mint mark punch was damaged. IMO.

Could you elaborate a bit because I look for varieties and when I see bulges within the loops, I start to think RPM.

The bulge inthe upper loop runs in a direction that could only be if the secondary punch of the mintmark was strongly rotated, but then one would expect to at least see another portion of the "S" sticking out some wheres, unless the punch was strongly tilted, and the 'blob' doesn't appear to be, so no RPM. Also the blob is wider than the majority or the strong "S" width, so it is 99% not a RPM, IMO.

I thought the blob was rather large myself. Thanks for your honorable opinion.

sorry not a 69 double die.it can be and is somewhat confusing for instance there are more then 15 types of 1972 double dies but only one that is the true double.

i am buying coins online at auctions daily or trying to may be more accurate so i have like six coin books by me for references because i never want a coin for more then its worth if i can help it.we all take the bad ride now and then though.it was easy for me to give that number regarding the 1972 as a result.

Sounds like you have a nice start to a numismatic reference library.

I am sure you misworded this as they are all true Doubled dies, but only DDO#1 is worth the big bucks, the others much less. The #1 die deserves the nice price. One of mine.

No, I bought a couple from Q.David Bowers when he was "Bowers and Merena" in 1980 something. They are both in PCGS slabs now.

I also bought this one from another source about 2000, as it was slabbed and in a PCGS slab.

Why have one when you can double your pleasure?

    Q. David Bowers, I have a couple of his books and couple of old auction catalogs when he was Bowers and Merena.

The first one is a higher grade, but the toned one is beautiful in its own way.
