Hi Guys, This sure looks like the real deal to me. I know that it's not in the best shape, to say the least, but the doubling is there. I guess I would be more confident if the coin was in better shape. Please give me your opinion, it is very much appreciated.
I'm not seeing any doubling. Honestly, with that much damage I can't even say for sure it is a "S" mint.
Even in as rattie and corroded condition as your coin is in, a true 69-S DDO would not require annotation to show where the doubling might be. So my opinion is no. Not a DDO, just another beat up 1969 Lincoln.
I'll go out on a limb here. It certainly looks like a D mm to me. is it a 1969S DDO? NOPE. Granted I have only had 3 of them in my hand so I am not an expert on them by no stretch.
If (key word here - IF) a genuine 69-S DDO existed in a comparable condition, and was able to be authenticated, it's foolish to think that the poor condition would totally wipe out the variety's premium. I am certainly not saying that people would be lining up around the block with four figures in-hand, but let's be reasonable here. As for the OP's coin, it sure does look like a D.
Au Contraire Monsieur. I have no doubt that a Corroded, beat up 69-S DDO would bring at least a grand in an open auction. If it were details graded as authentic by PCGS, bump that to between 5 and 7 grand.
