1969 lincoln cent

    i found this penny about 98 percent of copper is gone very little remains on lincoln
    a few spots on the reverse has all the copper on the rim the color on obverse and reverse
    is a dull gold color.
    any thoughts

    No idea, it should be copper, not like the zinc cents of today.
    Unless it is toning, try to post a picture.

    The entire cent is made of copper, so your statement that 98% of the copper is gone is a little misleading. It's not copper coated, but a copper (really bronze) planchet.

    Really need a pic if possible
