Why is it that after months of searching I can not find a 1969 D quarter. All I can find is on Ebay for $4 and up. I can't find that this is worth that much. I know that there is a lower mintage of these but t not find any at all...

    Is this quarter worth $4?

If the coin is uncirculated and in good shape, yes, it certainly can be worth that. But an average circulated example would not.

I don't know what it's really worth but can say that $4 is in line with the prices of the other eagle reverse clad quarters for the difficulty of finding this date. It is significantly scarcer than the '50-D nickel in unc so $4 can sound rather cheap.

Collectors should be aware that this date comes fairly nice in the mint set so not to pay a large premium for attractive examples.

The '69-D wore rather slowly in circulation for many years so there are a relatively large numbers of still attractive coins available. The trick can be finding them since these are getting preferentially saved by collectors.

They're common enough that you will find one and it's just been bad luck so far. Indeed, with perseverance and time you should be able to locate a nice attractive VF of this date. The really tough one is th '69-P.
