    Found this today hunting . notice the mint marks are in differ place to the date . the one on the right is normal. 1018161929.jpg

    In 1969 the Mintmarks were punched in by hand onto the Obverse Die, so it's normal to see the MM in different areas. Maybe the guy sneezed when he punched the D!

    The one on the right can't be considered "normal" since, as @paddyman98 said, the mintmark was punched by hand.

    If you find anything like this after 1989, when the M.M's. were incorporated directly onto the die, then you might have a chance at a variety.

    Unfortunately, there isn't a lot of interest in mintmark placement. If it were touching the date, touching the edge, or clogged there might be some interest and value in it.
