This looks like a possible DD. Just going thru a bunch of coins and I found this.
The 9 looks like a DD to me.

it looks like Ken454 got it right . something has hit the bottom leg of the 9 , it is fairely common for this to happen when the coins are in circulation. I have found damaged coins before and would almost swear they were mint errors until much more examination of them.

but the 9 is not damaged nor is the surrounding area. wouldnt the bottom of the 9 be beat up or even damaged?

maybe your photo is just playing tricks , the bottom of the 9 in the photo looks like it has a split place in it that looks like something sharp has bumped against it. regardless of what is wrong with the 9 this coin is not a doubled die coin.

I see no evidence that suggests a doubled die on this coin.

I beg your pardon, but I think that comment was a bit uncalled for. All I was doing was sharing my observations from the photos provided, and to insinuate that I am purposefully calling your coin MD just because it is not mine is inaccurate and untrue.

When you post a coin on a public website and say "possible DD", you are welcoming the opinions of others. Reverting to ad hominem attacks (calling rascal a parrot, claiming that I make a certain post because XYZ) are unnecessary and do nothing to add to the conversation.

Your comment is a bit silly considering the fact that on numerous occasions I have identified and given relevant information to many members who find die varieties and are receptive to my observations. It is true that many of my posts state things like "MD, die wear, etc" because a large part of the posts in the error sub forum are posted by novice collectors who may not yet know the different ways of telling a doubled die from other forms of doubling.

Just think about that, Tommy. No one is hurting you, no one is trying to beat you down. We post because we strive to educate others. And if you have to resort to personal insults against members who are just trying to help you, then maybe posting in a public forum may not be for you.
