Hi, My name is Merrianne I am a new member, not a coin collector by no means however over the years I have kept a few coins that have caught my eye like a 1965 (D) penny that just today I found while switching wallets. It looked as if it had been painted so I tried to rub it of it didnt want to come off but a sm piece feel off & it looked like cooper, so I asked my 85 y/o dad and he said it is green from the penny being cooper. I also have 2 of the Cheerio golden dollars. I asked my local coin and gold dealer if he could grade them and he said no but offered me $500 for the nicer of the 2! going to try & upload pic. Hoping someone on this amazing site could or would give me some idea of the value or point me in the right direction. any advice will be greatly appercated Please & TY ahead of time. ME
Hi Merrianne and welcome to the forum. The Cheerios dollar is an oddity that does have some true value to it. The mint created a new die and the dollars struck were only issued in Cheerios boxes. However not all Cheerios dollars are of value. The defining characteristic of the valuable dollar lies in the tail feathers of the eagle..... Now I am not a Cheerios dollar expert but what I do know is that once the experts show up they will need to see detailed photos showing the eagles tail feathers as clearly as you can photograph them. Good luck and welcome to the forum.
Welcome to CT, the Lincoln cent has minimal value, damaged from elements, exposure. need better pictures of the reverse of the 2000 p dollars.
Keep in mind there is more than one 2000P that has value merrianne. you should take what the dealer offered. but they have a goodacre presentation 2000 P. quality pictures is the first step. first glance yours appear to be normal coins. this pic from a dif website, out of my budget.
Welcome to CT. You can make pennies like yours by dipping them in vinegar and letting it dry on them. Many copper salts are green.
Welcome to Coin Talk. Another member, @cpm9ball, posted this on another post. Check it against your dollars to see if you have the reverse of 1999. http://www.smalldollars.com/dollar/page20c.html The post he responded to stated that PCGS & NGC will not verify it as a Cheerios dollar if it's not in the original packaging.
