the first 4 pictures are of the 68P. the E and T look suspicious to me. the last 3 pictures are of the 70D. opinions please?
Hey Bryan, I'm no pro by any means but I can see the 68 p being explained away easily as a result of die wear. The letters seem to have a consistent shelf along the top. The 70 D however, doesn't look like any machine doubling I know of. It sure looks like doubling but I am bothered that there is no doubling under the bottom serif of the T. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable will chime in. I would suggest adding clear photos of the 70 D showing the entire coin front and back.
The closeup of the 70 D "T" shows the striations of die deterioration under it on what looks like DD. IMO, both are DDD.
I may have stated it wrong. What was thought to be DD is only DDD, not both in this case. DDD will usually be seen over an area, because the whole Die has deteriorated, while a DD CAN Be isolated to a letter or number or image. The more prominent doubled dies are seen over a large area. These are the ones commanding the large premiums.
